A bill to license electricians and electrical contractors throughout Illinois is to be reintroduced to the house for possible consideration in the fall.
Electrical licensing will change the way electricians do business in Illinois. Much of this change will be for the better, but only if you are prepared in advance. ABC is putting in place a plan of action to assist contractors in preparing for this major change before licensing becomes a reality.
Electrical licensing will require every person working with electricity and electrical wiring to be registered with the state as a journeyman, residential electrician, electrical contractor or apprentice. In order to qualify for one of these, you must be able to prove specific levels of education and experience. ABC can assist you in qualifying so that you can continue doing business as an electrician or electrical contractor without interruption.
