Important Update: Court Decision on EEO-1 Compensation Data

On Thursday, April 25, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that covered employers will be required for the first time to submit detailed data on employee compensation and hours worked (or “Component-2” data) to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as apart of their annual EEO-1 form submission by Sep. 30, 2019. The court ordered EEOC to collect this data for calendar year 2018.

Social Security “No Match” Letters Are Back!

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced in late 2018 that they would begin issuing SSA No Match letters again beginning in the Spring of 2019. Employers must be aware that the process has begun and the SSA No Match letters they could receive in 2019 look different from prior years. The letters will state “Employer Correction Request Notice” at the top and will not provide any employee names on the notice. A sample of the notice can be found on the Social Security website

Prevailing Wage Ordinance 18-1604 Update

Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. - Illinois Chapter, along with several other Associations, actively opposed the passage of the Cook County Prevailing Wage Ordinance 18-1604:  Click Here for the final version.  After the ordinance passed, ABC - Illinois Chapter formed a coalition to have the ordinance amended. Although a repeal would be best, given the political climate in Cook County, we think a complete repeal is highly unlikely.

Media Alert: Cook County Task Force meeting to discuss prevailing wage ordinance 18-1604

The Task Force determined by the Cook County Board of Commissioners will meet for the second time this Monday, July 30th to discuss implementation of Ordinance 18-1604; This ordinance amendment passed on March 24th and requires any commercial or industrial property owner in Cook County who has a Property Tax Incentive to only use contractors who pay prevailing wages and have a United States Department Of Labor Office approved apprentice program for any work performed on the property.
